How To Prepare For Your Appointment

Most people don’t like the idea of meeting with an attorney.  In fact, this is the primary reason people put off preparing for the future whether it be estate planning or asset protection.  At Ozarks Elder Law we realize this so we want to make it as stress-free as possible!

Before you come in for your appointment, we will send you a worksheet in which you will list basic information about yourself and your situation.  Filling out this document before our first meeting takes place will make it easier for everyone involved to understand the situation.  That way instead of spending time learning details, we can come in with a plan of attack.

We will also ask you to gather up any documents that will be relevant to your case. This could include birth certificates, titles, wills, marriage licenses, or practically any official document you keep locked up. If you’re not sure what to bring, it’s better to bring too many documents than not enough.

Once we sit down, we’ll help you complete any information that you were confused about or didn’t know, and go through all the documents. This will help us organize the goals we should pursue in your case, whether it’s establishing a will, setting up a trust, or something else.

After we establish your goals, the next step is determining how to reach your goals.  During our first meeting we will discuss whether additional information is needed, the cost and a timeline.

If you have any other questions, we encourage you to call us at 417-868-8200.
