Happy Gorgeous Grandma Day!
Grandmas, Nanas, Mimis and Gigis, Today is your day! July 23 is national Gorgeous Grandma Day!
The role of a grandmother can come in many different forms. Besides traditional grandmas, there are grandmas who take on the primary caregiver role, pet grandmas, step grandmas, honorary grandmas and more. The older women in our lives who give us support and guidance bring a unique beauty to the quality of our lives. Today is the day to celebrate them!
Think about it, who makes the best food? Whose food do you look forward to during the holidays? It’s always Grandma’s! Grandmas make the best dishes. She takes the cake (pun intended) for cooking with style and panache.
In addition to their great cooking, grandmas have a way of cutting to the core of difficult situations and giving the best advice. Grandmothers have the tendency to say what they think without any filters. They have been there and done that and don’t have time for skirting around issues while trying to be politically correct. They will tell you flat out what they think even if it hurts some feelings. But you know what? They’re usually right.
Grandmas also typically don’t like to listen to today’s “new” rules. Especially rules like, “Do not give the kids ice cream, Mom.” Saying that to the average grandma is like telling her not to push a giant red button. Forget about it. Grandmas love to spoil their grandchildren regardless of what they are told.
Grandmas are the rock we depend on when we aren’t sure where to turn for support. We know that we can always turn to grandma when things are tough. She will give us the hard truth even if we think we don’t want to hear it. Then she will give us a big hug and most likely make us something to eat.
Grandmothers endlessly love and treasure their families, and typically have an infectious love for life. They have experienced a lot and have the best words of wisdom. Despite all the aches and pains of getting older, most grandmothers have positive attitudes and amazing energy, which radiates into our lives. This day aims to celebrate them and encourage them to live it up a bit.
If you are a grandmother or a woman who is in the age bracket that can be considered a grandmother, this is the day is to make yourself the priority. Grandmothers spend most of their time loving their children and grandchildren and looking after others. So take the time to pamper yourself and do something exciting that you normally wouldn’t do today.
Those who have a grandma or know an elderly female family member or friend, make today exciting for them. Spend time with them, pamper them, have fun, and get them to try something new. Think out of the box and defy assumed age limitations!
At Joplin Elder Law, we want to wish every type of grandma out there a very happy Gorgeous Grandma’s Day!
