Who We Are
The Joplin Elder Law team is composed of real people— mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives that are driven by their hearts for family. Each expert attorney holds extensive knowledge and experience in the field of elder law, but the empathy they offer is what sets them apart. They take the time to get to know each client and offer advice and direction to protect you the same way they would protect their own.
Lori Rook is the owner and managing attorney of Joplin Elder Law. She was born and raised in the Springfield area. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Missouri State Univerity in 2003 where she graduated with honors. In 2006, Lori received her law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law before returning to the Springfield area to practice and raise her family.
Elyse Hartley is a partner at Joplin Elder Law. She grew up on a farm in central Missouri. Upon graduation from the University of Missouri School of Law, she decided to pursue a career in estate planning and elder law after recognizing a need for these services, especially in the farming community. Elyse serves on several boards of directors for community organizations. Springfield Business Journal named her an up-and-coming Trusted Advisor in 2019. She lives in Ozark with her husband and daughters.

Elyse Hartley joined Joplin Elder Law as an estate planning and elder law attorney in 2014. She grew up on a farm in central Missouri and worked as an insurance agent in her family's business during and after college. She graduated with honors from the Trulaske College of Business at the University of Missouri, where she was selected to participate in the Harry and Ann Cornell Leadership Program. Following college, Elyse decided to pursue a career in estate planning and elder law after recognizing a need for such services among her own family and friends.
